HSBC Bankası‘nın Çin şubesi, kurumsal müşteriler için e-CNY hizmetlerini sunmaya başladı ve bu da ülke genelinde hem perakende hem de kurumsal müşterilere merkez bankası dijital para birimi ile ilişkili hizmetleri sunan ilk yabancı banka olduğu anlamına geliyor. E-CNY, dijital yuan olarak da bilinir ve Çin Halk Bankası tarafından ihraç edilen dijital bir para birimidir. Çin yuanının (CNY) dijital bir versiyonu olmasının yanı sıra dolaşımdaki nakit paranın bir kısmı ile takas edilerek dolaşım miktarının azaltılması amaçlanıyor.

HSBC Bank (China) Co. Ltd., Cuma günü yaptığı bir açıklamada kurumsal müşterilerinin artık varlıklarını yönetmek için kurumsal banka hesaplarını dijital yuan hesaplarıyla bağlayabileceklerini ifade etti. Banka, bir eğitim grubunun Şanghay, Pekin, Guangzhou, Jiaxing ve Suzhou‘daki altı şubesinde şirketin e-CNY ile ödemeler almasına yardımcı olduğunu ifade etti.

Çin Merkez Bankası olan Çin Halk Bankası, dijital yuan pilot çalışmalarını 2019’un sonlarında başlattı ve dijital yuan denemelerini ülke genelinde onlarca bölgeye genişletti. Çin, bazı şehirlerde devlet çalışanlarına dijital yuan ile ödeme yapmaya da başladı, ancak Güney Çin Sabah Postası geçen ay birçok kullanıcının, işlevsel kısıtlamalar ve gizlilik endişeleri nedeniyle hala e-CNY ile ödeme yapmaktan çekindiğini bildirdi.

Geçen ay, Hong Kong, bölgedeki kullanıcıların Hong Kong sakinleri arasında dijital yuan kullanımını genişletmek amacıyla sınır ötesi ödemeler için kişisel e-CNY cüzdanları kurabileceğini duyurdu.
